About the Barossa Quintet
Founded in 1999, The Barossa Wind Quintet is an ensemble of Chicago talent dedicated to full exploration of the wind quintet repertoire. The Barossa Quintet has performed for audiences of all ages, from young children to enthusiastic seniors. They are a versatile ensemble that can quickly tailor recitals and educational concerts to suit any audience.
The quintet has performed in Chicago's Music in the Loft chamber music series and has made educational presentations through the International Music Foundation and the Ravinia Festival. In May of 2002, the Barossa Quintet was featured on WFMT's Dame Myra Hess concert series broadcast live from the Cultural Center of Chicago. They have also performed recitals at Northwestern University and at Ravinia Festival's Bennett Gordon Hall. Members have performed professionally with many orchestras, including the Chicago Symphony, Cleveland Orchestra, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Baltimore Symphony and Vancouver Symphony Orchestra among others.
In addition to performing full recitals and educational concerts, The Barossa Quintet enjoys a wide variety of creative collaborations, including partnerships with contemporary composers as well as master classes and lecture-recitals.
